Welcome to the PET Club

PET stands for QCG’s Project management, Engineering, and Technical. The PET Club is an information and intelligence sharing forum for organisations with an interest in infrastructure engineering, whether that be rail, road, water, or power-related. As such it brings together public-sector clients with private sector main contractors and sub-contractors – in short, organisations with an interest in recruiting and retaining the best engineers and engineering project managers.

Membership of the Club

The PET Club operates differently to many pay clubs. There is no fee to join the Club, and “membership” of the Club does not oblige you to take part in any of the Club’s activities. However, membership does mean that when we gather data and information we will approach you to take part.

Gathering market intelligence

In addition to a rolling pay and benefits survey PET Club participants often approach us to gather information and market intelligence – whether that is as simple as the market pricing of a role, or a benchmarking of current market practice in a particular area.

Why should you take part? Well, what’s of interest to your competitors and peers will probably be of interest to you, even it’s not one of your current ‘hot potatoes’. And the results of all PET Club exercises are only shared between participants, so we won’t provide organisations who haven’t taken part with our analysis, even for a fee. Just as our mothers always told us, you get out what you put in.

And because all data and information is collected by QCG no other organisation will see your raw data, whether that be details of individuals’ pay and benefits, or particular HR policies. Ever.

Because of our extensive network of contacts within the engineering world we trust QCG will be your first port of call for HR data and market intelligence for the sector.

Networking

The PET Club does more than just gather data. It’s also a forum for you to network with other HR professionals in the sector.

The last PET Club seminar was held on 17 September 2009 at Tube Lines, Canary Wharf, London. The presentations from this event are available here. Our thanks to Tube Lines for providing the PET Club with this venue.

At the event, summary results of our non-pay benefits survey were presented (although, in keeping with PET Club practice, only participants received a copy of the full written report).
