Retained HR Services
QCG have successfully provided over the past three years a retained HR service to a number of clients. These clients tend to be smaller businesses employing between 25 and 100 people and who have chosen not to employ an in-house HR manager principally on the grounds of economics. Yet the leaders of these businesses still recognise that recruiting, motivating, developing and retaining their staff is a skilled activity which can make a real difference to their organisation.
Our solution is a relatively simple one. We provide a comprehensive service for a fixed monthly fee. The service is specifically tailored to the individual client’s needs - both in terms of the level of support required, and the time that is likely to be required on a regular basis each month. Additional hours are agreed in advance for special projects should they arise.
A typical service contract would include the following:
- Advice to the Chief Executive on HR issues in relation to the strategic and operational development of the business;
- Revising and overseeing an effective system of performance management;
- Monitoring, developing and implementing the necessary HR and employment policies and practices to enable the organisation to function effectively;
- Coaching and supporting managers in their leadership role;
- Providing HR support to the management of change as required;
- Advising the Chief Executive and individual managers as required on complex or sensitive cases that require specialist HR expertise, including disciplinary, grievance and redundancy cases;
- Providing support to staff on HR issues; providing individual counselling as required.
A detailed service level agreement is drawn up with regular monthly reviews with the client throughout the life of the contract. QCG will provide a named consultant who will build up his or her knowledge of the client’s business over the life of the contract. Generally contracts last for one year but with one month notice on either side. Contracts normally provide the equivalent of 3 or 4 days per month of support to the client. A helpline service is available at all times for urgent issues.
