Managing specialist pay in a changing environment

The Project

We were asked to conduct a pay and grading review in this organisation to equip them for a new future that would include a change of ownership.  A number of its roles are highly specialist and presented a challenging benchmarking exercise.

Our Role

We worked with the Senior Team to define and deliver a new reward strategy to support the current and future business objectives.  We consulted with staff and managers and benchmarked external practices to help design a new system that would balance commercial priorities and affordability against organsational culture and staff expectations.  We also conducted an evaluation of employer risk in relation to equal pay.

Outcome

We created a new grading structure to reflect internal relativities and new market aligned bands with base pay progression linked to demonstration of competence.  Our recommendations included the introduction of a profit-sharing scheme.
