Leadership Development
Cultural Leadership Programme
The Project
We were commissioned by a central funding agency to work with a group of regional Museum Directors to help them develop a more collaborative working style and share their commercial thinking as they embarked on a phase of stringent cuts and fundamental changes to their approach to revenue generation, commissioning and service delivery – all in an environment of extreme ambiguity.
Our Role
We worked with the lead Director to develop a series of workshops that would each tackle one of the main change components. The workshops were highly interactive and designed to promote open discussion and knowledge sharing in a way that had not happened before. After four such workshops the Directors are working through their individual and regional strategies in a way that aims to achieve the best outcome for their institutions, their visitors, local economies and for the region as a whole.
Outcome
Our work on this assignment is on-going and we are looking forward to supporting further elements of the Programme including an event with members of the wider museum community in the region aimed at sharing knowledge and learning. In a recent report the Programme was described as being ’seminal in developing a vehicle for the convergence of thinking and learning for the Hub partners’.
